An 18th-century teapot by Worcester circa 1755-1770, carries blue square fret mark underneath. The decoration is based on Chinese teapots with a beautiful hand-painted floral pattern and raised flower on the lid.

Measuring 14cm tall to the lid, 20cm wide from spout to handle.

Worcester is one of the most widely collected of 18th century English porcelain factories. The factory produced a huge variety of products and styles. This gives collectors a fantastic ranging from the very rare to the surprisingly common.

Worcester porcelain is believed to be the oldest or second oldest remaining English porcelain brand. The factory was founded at Warmstry House, Worcester in 1751. The period between 1751 and 1783 is often known as the Dr. Wall period after one of the founders. In 1783 the factory was purchased by Thomas Flight. After this various names were used until in 1862 when it became the Royal Worcester Porcelain Company, now part of the Portmeirion Group which is still in existence today.

Condition Report

The teapot is in excellent antique condition for something this old. There are tiny hairline cracks near lid flower (need jewelers glass to see) and very tiny little nips on the lid flower petals which are hardly noticeable but can be felt if you run your finger around the edge.

It is possible that the lid has been professionally restored because the glaze on the inside is not uniform or this could be as manufactured please see photo.

The picture has "bright areas" which are reflections, not damage.

Please note that all items we sell are not new, they are either vintage or antique condition, they may have some stains, kiln dust, minor surface scratches, normal signs of wear from use, or even some manufacturing imperfections.  We will try our best to point out any condition issues in the items description and show in the photographs.
