Elegant part tea set by Spode consists of two teacups, two saucers, one milk jug, and one teapot stand.

Two cups and saucers marked upper case SPODE in blue.

The teapot stand marked lower case Spode in blue

The milk jug marked upper case SPODE in green

The saucers, milk jug, and the teapot stand are decorated with Broseley pattern which was copied from a Chinese original design. The pattern was used mainly on tea services and it is said to have been named after a town called Broseley. There are variations in the Broseley pattern sometimes called Broseley II or Pagoda. On hollowware (teapots, sugar bowls, etc.) the pattern was sometimes reversed, referred to as Broseley reversed.

The cups are New London shape, the pattern on the cups is the reversed version of the Broseley pattern.

Josiah Spode I was born in 1733, after worked for several local potters, in 1776 he established his own factory in Church Street, (then known as High Street) Stoke on Trent. After his death in 1797, the factory was run by his son Josiah Spode II in partnership with William Copeland.
